Today marked a very special occasion with the grand opening of the Pied Piper Appeal charity shop in Court Road, Brockworth., Gloucester.

This new venture has taken a few months in the planning and the Charity is indebted to local businesses who have pledged time, labour and services to help open the doors to the welcoming Brockworth Community.

Officially opened by charity founder Peter Hickman MBE, colleagues and volunteers gathered to raise a glass and open the doors.

Said Pied Piper chairman Nick Broady: “We are very excited to open our first shop and thanks to all who have helped us stage this. It’s something we have talked about in recent times and a natural progression for us as the charity retail sector goes from strength to strength. The Brockworth location and community is excellent and from the many customers who came along this afternoon to check us out and buy, we are confident we will make a good success and raise even more funds for the Appeal.”

From ladies wear to men’s, children’s, toys, books, DVDs, home accessories and furniture, all donations are welcomed by Louise Harris, the newly appointed retail manager who has recently joined from Longfield Hospice.

“Everyone has been so helpful and supportive in getting us open in less than two months! The shop does require more volunteers to work alongside me, and help in the mornings or afternoons, sorting donations merchandise and serving. No experience is required, full training will be given and just a willingness to help,” said Louise. If you have some spare time and would like to be a part please call her on 01452 862667 or email

The shop is open Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm. With handy parking outside it’s easy to pull up and drop off to upcycle.

Thanks to many of the Charity’s friends including: Barnwood Shopfitters, Tanner Bennett, Malvern Tyres, Avenue Cars, GBE Converge, RHM Telecomms, Severn Signs, Cellar Supplies, Farr & Farr, HCR Law and Jelf LLP.
