The Trustees

The Pied Piper Charity is very close to my heart because as a child I had first-hand experience of the old children's ward at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Many years on, and with tireless effort from all those involved, I feel a great sense of responsibility as the chairman of such an important county charity. The work we do is vital to the children of Gloucestershire. The huge difference we make is not only felt by the countless children and families who visit our hospitals but also in the far-reaching projects and fundraising that improves the lives of children at so many schools and centres in Gloucestershire. I enjoy speaking to local Businesses and groups to encourage as many people as possible to support the Pied Piper Appeal.

Sadly after losing her first child to a brain tumour at the age of three Julie and her husband formed the Emily Kent Charitable Trust and raised thousands of pounds for children with cancer in Gloucestershire. Since joining the Pied Piper in September 2014, Julie was appointed Vice Chair in December 2015. She has made a massive impact on the charities social media, Chairs the Promotional Board and brought the idea of the Charity Shop to the Trustees. Since retiring, she now volunteers in the Pied Piper Office overseeing the fundraising.

“We always want the best for our family, but our family’s health is one of the few things we cannot control. My wife and I know that if our daughter ever needed emergency medical attention then we would want her to be as comfortable as possible and so to be given the opportunity to be involved in such a fantastic local children’s charity as The Pied Piper Appeal is very humbling”.

“My wife and I have been supporters of The Pied Piper Appeal since 2011 when our daughter was taken seriously ill in Gloucestershire Hospital. The more I understand about the charity’s work and fantastic impact they make, the more I wanted to support and I am delighted to be a trustee”
